Happy New Year 2019

Hello all and Happy New Year!  I am excited to be back at my keyboard and am looking forward to a busy 2019 with lots of new stories about life here on Rolling E Ranch and as always, whatever else catches my fancy!

In my Merry Christmas blog post, I had mentioned that Boo seems to think she is the coauthor of MY blog.  Never mind the fact that she has no opposing thumbs to hold a pen with and is illiterate, those are just annoying little details as far as she is concerned!!

My Dad left a comment on the post relaying a request from Pierre who wanted to know if Boo was as big as he is. Pierre also groused about the fact that Dad will not let him outside to dig.

Who, you may wonder, is Pierre?  Is he my Dad’s dog?  Well, he is, and he isn’t. Pierre, while he is a long time member of the family, is a Stuffie, yes, a cute, stuffed floppy eared dog.

My parents found Pierre in a shop one year when they were vacationing in Amagansett and ever since then he has been a member of the family.  He has had his picture taken in more places than most people that I know, and, he has been seen more than once sticking his head out the car window and barking (ok, it was really my dad doing the barking).

Now I know how all of this sounds, and you’re probably thinking that we are a family of loons, but you can’t tell me that you all don’t have at least one little family thing that if you told other people about it they would look at you oddly, and then they would go home and realize that they have one odd thing in their family as well.

And I have to admit, that I play along with the whole Pierre thing to the point where one Christmas I even knitted matching scarves for Dad and Pierre.

So in answer to your questions, Pierre, yes, Boo is bigger than you seem to think you are, and as far as being allowed outside to dig, it is a highly over rated activity…you tend to get really dirty, smell bad, and are not allowed in the house.

Do you have a funny family story to share?  If so, I would love to hear about it in the comments below.

Until next time, Happy Trails!

not to be overlooked (he wouldn’t allow it) is Jack O’Hare, another member of the douglas menage, or menagerie, of stuffies.
A rabbit, elegantly outfitted in green velvet jacket and striped pants, he and Pierre may be room-mates but they are as oddly
matched as felix and Oscar. jack refuses association with Pierre’s cigar-smoking, poker-playing cronies, but looks back on
memories of outings at restaurants, poetry salons and church socials a well, sadly, on his brief romance with yvette, a french
    doll.

Dear Marjoire…How could I have forgotten Jack O? I don’t know what I could have been thinking 🙂 Thank you for the reminder, I am sure he will be quite pleased 🙂

I think you know i bark out the window when i see a squirrel in the road, just to scare and save the squirrel. but some folks might think it odd.

Hmmm…I have no memory of you barking out the window at squirrels…singing to cows on Christmas Eve, certainly, but barking? I would definitely remember that :)!
